Wise Man vs. Foolish Man

 Matthew 7:24-27
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.  The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

I remember singing the wise and foolish man song growing up, but this week I saw something I hadn't seen before when I read these verses. The foolish man that is referred to, is one that has heard His word and doesn't put it into practice. It is not referring to someone who has never heard the truth. How many times do we read or hear a scripture and think wow, that's just what I needed? How many times do we put that word into action? Words like...no weapon formed against you shall prosper, as a man thinks in his heart so is he, When you pass the through the waters they will not sweep over you. Faith is more than just listening or reading the scripture, it's putting it into practice which is easier said than done. Just something to think about.

Even when it talks about the wise man, He doesn't say if the storms come, but when. Life isn't going to be easy, some days will be harder than others. Sometimes there will be rain and it will seem like everything is coming againist you, but if you'll put His word into practice...trust Him even when you can't see what's coming next, remember that you are the righteousness of God in Christ, you are the Head and not the tail...He's going to give you the strength to stand. The storm will end and you will still be standing, a little stronger even.
